The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has concluded the first cluster of its summer placement process for the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) Class of 2028. Held on October 23, 2026, the recruitment round featured more than 85 roles across six industry cohorts, covering consulting, investment banking, financial advisory, private equity and related fields. The summer placement process gives management students an opportunity to secure internships and gain practical experience before completing their programme. Recruiter participation across multiple sectors also gives students exposure to different career paths in management, finance and business strategy.
The first cluster brought together recruiters from consulting, financial services and investment-related sectors.
Management and advisory consulting: Participating firms included McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Bain & Company, Accenture Strategy, EY-Parthenon, Kearney, Oliver Wyman, Roland Berger, Strategy&, Alvarez & Marsal and Vector Consulting Group.
Investment banking and markets: Recruiters included Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Barclays, Citibank, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Moelis & Co and The Raine Group.
Private equity, venture capital and asset management: Companies in this cohort included Blackstone, Ares Management, Gaja Capital, Multiples Alternate Asset Management, Catamaran and Aquilon Capital.
Cards and financial advisory: American Express, Cranmore Partners and Synergy Consulting were among the participating organisations.

The first cluster also included opportunities associated with international offices. EY-Parthenon offered opportunities linked to Singapore, while Goldman Sachs and HSBC had roles associated with Hong Kong.
International roles can offer exposure to different markets and business environments. However, the availability of a role does not necessarily mean that every student is eligible for it; selection depends on the position and the employer's requirements.
The placement process continued with Cluster 2 on October 27, 2026. According to subsequent reporting, this round offered more than 75 roles across nine industry cohorts, extending recruitment beyond the main consulting and finance categories. The cohorts included consumer goods, conglomerates, advertising and media, consumer services, financial platforms, healthcare, retail, fashion and real estate. Source: India Today.
Recruiters reported for the second cluster included Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Nestlé, Procter & Gamble, Amazon, Myntra, Bloomberg, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and Medtronic India. Raymond participated in the fashion cohort, while Eden Landmarks and Experion Developers were among the real estate participants.
The third cluster was scheduled for October 30, 2026, according to the institute's published schedule. Students and applicants should consult IIM Ahmedabad's official website for subsequent placement announcements.
For the PGP Class of 2027, IIM Ahmedabad reported that 410 students were placed through the summer placement process across three clusters. More than 155 firms participated and offered 221 distinct roles. Consulting accounted for 166 offers, while banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) accounted for 105 offers. These figures relate to the previous batch and should not be treated as the final outcome for the Class of 2028. Source: The Indian Express.
For students considering an MBA, the recruiter list provides an indication of the career options available at a leading management institute. However, the number of roles announced in an early placement cluster does not establish the final placement outcome for the entire batch.
Aspirants evaluating management programmes should consider several factors together:
IIM Ahmedabad's first two placement clusters for the 2026–27 process demonstrate participation across a broad range of industries. The final picture for the PGP Class of 2028 will become clearer as the remaining recruitment rounds and official updates are completed.
