As in previous years, candidates will be allowed to appear for one or two papers, subject to the combinations approved by IIT Madras. The permitted combinations are designed to enable students from interdisciplinary backgrounds to demonstrate expertise in related fields while maintaining the academic integrity of the examination.

Alongside the paper combinations, IIT Madras has also published the detailed syllabus for every subject paper. Candidates are advised to download the syllabus for their chosen discipline and align their preparation with the officially prescribed topics.

GATE scores are accepted for admission to MTech, ME, MS, PhD, and other postgraduate programmes at IITs, NITs, IIITs, IISc, and several participating institutions. In addition, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) use GATE scores during their recruitment process.
